Glenstal Abbey School is a school for boys and is part of a monastic community that builds its life around the love of learning and the desire for God. While we have a strong Christian tradition we welcome students of all faiths and none.
For many years, we have provided students with a challenging and supportive environment where they can discover and develop their specific talents and negotiate their way of being at home in the world.
The school has approximately 250 students with small class sizes of normally between 12 and 16 students. A broad curriculum is on offer, delivered by a qualified, dedicated and passionate teaching staff. We consistently maintain an outstanding academic record with excellent examination results across a wide ability range. Most of our students go on to study at universities throughout Ireland, England and Europe.
Glenstal Abbey School provides education rather than mere tuition. Education, we believe, is transmitted through person to person relationship. Contact is even more important than content. Such transmission is a shared experience which will play through in the hearts and minds of students for a long time.
Our school becomes a home from home for those who enjoy being at boarding-school. We have an exciting co-curricular programme which offers a rich array of opportunity for each student to express themselves. Sports and leisure pursuits include Rugby, Tennis, Hurling, Music, Drama, Art, Photography, Debating and Public Speaking.
Our website is no substitute for a visit to our school campus set in very beautiful wood and parkland. So, we do invite prospective families to visit and find out for themselves whether Glenstal is the place where your child is most likely to find his true self. We look forward to meeting you in person.
